  Shun Run 2014: Show Courage, Don't Shun

  our third annual shun run will be held again at 10am at papago park, tempe, az on saturday, april 12th.

  this is a low-key public event that all who wish to see an end to organizational-induced shunning can join in.

  lecture room on floor 4 at 2:00pm.. as part of this event, i write a letter to sdb:ssy, the otherwise anonymous jw author who informed me about the df'ing announcement in my case.

  Donations - how much is normal?

  how much would a well-off witness be expected to donate?

  my wife has just withdrawn a few hundred pounds from her account and refuses to tell me why so i suspect she plans to donate it as she hasn't donated for a while because she knows i don't want our money going to the organisation.

  is it likely that she is feeling under pressure to make a large donation?.

  a list of good movies/tv shows to get a JW to think

  ones that have themes that come uncomfortabllly close to the cult dynamic.. i already got him to watch the obsolete man on twilight zone.

  he sauggested watching some old tz again tonight so i wioll pick where is everybody, and escape clause.. i have heard oters say the movie truman show was a good movie as is the matrix ( though i detest violence).

  any more suggestions for my personal handy dandy list?.

  The Lego MOvie - no seriously it is a bout a compliance Lego Man who rebels against and escapes the rigid structure and rules of his world created by the evil Mr Business- my wife sat through it and I doubt the anlaogy oocccurred to her.

  JW parents are CRAZY

  hello again, for those who don't know me i'm a 15 year old boy.

  and recently my mom is displaying symptoms of demensia, she left the stove on today and she yells at us for watching commercials on t.v that are "demonic" because today there was a commercial on television for the new 300 movie and she started yelling at my sister to turn it off, and then i was listening to coldplay as a playlist while doing my school work and she started yelling at me to turn the demonic music off.

  she says "demonic" this "demonic" that.

  Teenage rebellion is normal and healthy and particularly so when your parents are in a cult (which means they have rigid and often ridiculous rules and ways of thinking) and they have been trying to get you to become a fully fledged member of the same cult and otherwise control you in an unhealthy way. Don't accept all the attempts to label you as the problem because you will not conform to the cult thinking and rules. Try to harness your rebellion in a positive way. You are perceptive and articulate - use that to express how you feel. As others have said it sounds like the best way to deal with your Mum is to avoid her. Build a support network but be careful it is not with the sort of people who will lead you into abuse of alcohol and drug abuse - as others have said - you are at risk of that. Listen to the good advice you are getting here. As others have suggested find a school counsellor or some other adult who you can trust and is trained to deal with these issues - if you already have a scoial worker, see if that person is the best person to help. Thinking about and planning the next few years of life are critical. Think about what your life outside the cult will be like - try to be both optimist and realistic and then come up with options.   hey i joined this thread recently and thought this was a good way to introduce myself.

  i am 15, still going to school and i live in the uk.

  a good chunk of my mum's side of the family are jws.

  I agree with JWdaughter - why isn't your Dad providing you with more support in all of this? Why did he allow you to be denied Xmas and birthdays from the age of 7? As a UBM with a child at risk I get shocked at other UBMs who seem to let their JW spouses impose JW rules on the household and indoctrinate the kids without putting up any resistance - have some cojones. It is all very well arguing about the Bible - it is much more important to protect your kids from the cult for crying out loud.

  Duvan - talk to your Dad - get him to understand what you are going through and that he has some responsibilities to you to help you through this - at least he should be able to provide you with a 'worldly' support network from his side of the family. Good luck and I agree with Kate - you are a thoughtful young man for identifying the problems for yourself. Fraz

  It is interesting that the Japanese ahve been actively seeking to discredit the WTBS. good for them. Maybe the Sarin gas attacks in tokyo got them to focus on cults and the dangers of cults and they identified the WSBTS as such. It is a pity other governments don't follow suit.
